FINANCIAL AID

WHAT IS FEDERAL STUDENT AID?

Federal Student Aid offers students financial assistance in the means of grants and loans. Title IV refers to Federal Student Aid.

When you apply for financial aid, you may receive loans as a part of your school’s financial aid package. If you take a loan, you need to make sure to understand all about the terms and conditions of the loan. When it comes to student loans, they are offered by the federal government, private sources including a bank or financial institution, or even from other organizations. Loans or financial aid made by the federal government, Federal Direct Loans, generally come with more benefits than loans taken from banks or private sources.

Global Tech College also provides Federal Financial Aid Assistance for all students who qualify.
Our Programs are Title IV Approved Programs.

WHY FEDERAL STUDENT AID

Federal student loans are like your future investment and offer many benefits as compared to other options that you may consider while paying for college. Here are some of the benefits that you get with Federal Student Aid:

You get a fixed and a lower interest rate as compared with the financial aid with banks or other private sources.

There is no need to have a cosigner or credit check.

If you show financial need, the government will pay the interest on some types of loans while you are still in school and during some time after school.

Federal Student Aid offers flexible repayment options.

If you work in a specific profile and if you meet certain conditions, you could be eligible to have a portion of your federal student aid forgiven.

You don’t have to start repaying the federal student loan until you drop below half-time or until after you leave the college.

POINTS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID

Before you take out a Federal Direct Student Loan, you need to consider a few things. Although you don’t have to start repaying the student loan right away, you need to understand your repayment responsibilities immediately, to become a responsible borrower.

  • Keep a track of how much you are borrowing. You should only be borrowing the amount that you will be able to repay, without any extra burden.
  • Research about the starting salaries that you would get in your field. Get an idea about how much you can earn once you graduate. This will help you plan the repayment of the loan.
  • Understand the terms and conditions of the student federal loan and keep copies of your documents. Once you sign the Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note, you agree to repay the amount even if you don’t get a job, don’t complete the education, or didn’t like the education.
  • Making timely payments is always a good practice. Make sure to clear the loan payments on time even if you are not receiving the reminders or bills regularly.
  • Be in touch with your student loan servicer. Contact them once you graduate, leave the school, transfer to other schools, or when you change your details such as name, address, or even the Social Security number.
